SCENE BREAKDOWN & SYNOPSIS
(Junior Version – School Friendly)
ACT ONE
Scene 1 – UCLA Campus
Elle Woods is a confident and popular sorority girl who believes her boyfriend, Warner, is about to propose. Instead, Warner breaks up with her, explaining that he wants a more “serious” partner for his future career in law and politics. Elle is devastated but determined to prove she is more than what people assume.
Scene 2 – Delta Nu Sorority House
With encouragement from her sorority sisters, Elle decides to apply to Harvard Law School to win Warner back. The Delta Nus help her prepare her application in their own unique and enthusiastic way.
Scene 3 – Harvard Law School Admissions
Elle attends her Harvard Law School interview. Although the admissions officers are sceptical at first, Elle’s confidence and individuality impress them. She is accepted into Harvard Law, shocking everyone — including Warner.
Scene 4 – Harvard Law Classroom
Elle arrives at Harvard and quickly realises she does not fit in with the serious law students. Professor Callahan challenges the class, and Elle is embarrassed when she is judged based on her appearance. Emmett, Callahan’s teaching assistant, notices Elle’s intelligence and potential.
Scene 5 – Harvard Law School Grounds
Elle struggles to adjust to life at Harvard. Warner is now dating Vivienne, who looks down on Elle. Elle begins to question whether she truly belongs at law school.
Scene 6 – Callahan’s Office
Professor Callahan selects students to assist on a high-profile legal case involving Brooke Wyndham, a fitness instructor accused of murder. Elle is chosen, upsetting Vivienne and surprising the other students.
ACT TWO
Scene 1 – Jail / Visiting Room
Elle meets Brooke Wyndham in jail. Elle earns Brooke’s trust by promising not to reveal her alibi, which involves a personal and private secret. This moment shows Elle’s loyalty and integrity.
Scene 2 – Hair Salon
Elle befriends Paulette at the salon. Through humour and kindness, Elle helps Paulette regain confidence, leading to the famous “Bend and Snap.”
Scene 3 – Callahan’s Office
Professor Callahan behaves inappropriately towards Elle. Hurt and disappointed, Elle believes she was only valued for her looks. She decides to quit the law team and leave Harvard.
Scene 4 – Harvard Campus
Emmett and Vivienne confront Elle and encourage her not to give up. Vivienne apologises for judging Elle, and Elle realises she deserves to be at Harvard because of her intelligence and hard work.
Scene 5 – Courtroom Trial
Elle returns just in time to take over Brooke’s defence. Using her knowledge of fitness, fashion and logic, Elle exposes Chutney Wyndham as the real murderer. Brooke is found not guilty.
Scene 6 – Graduation
Elle graduates from Harvard Law School with honours. Warner attempts to win her back, but Elle has grown beyond him. The show ends with Elle confident, successful and ready for her future.
