ABOUT LHOH
ABOUT LHOH
Legacy Hands of Hope (LHOH) is a nonprofit organization founded on the adage of each one, teach one. Its leadership team is a professionally diverse group of women who came together to provide aid and opportunity to African and Caribbean communities. Upon determining LHOH’s mission, we quickly realized scope expansion was necessary if we desired to shift the tides of communal, personal, and economic harm generationally levied on these communities. LHOH does not prescribe to giving handouts but providing handups. And it is through this hand up approach where we believe personal and community resilience is planted, nurtured, and matured to foster their sustainable future.
LHOH will execute its mission with a focus on the following pillars:
Compassionate Support Offering mentorship, emotional support, and counseling to help individuals navigate life’s challenges.
Educational Programs Providing resources such as literacy programs, vocational training, and workshops that help people acquire new skills and access better economic opportunities.
Resource Distribution Offering access to food, healthcare, housing assistance, and financial support for those in need.
Community Building Strengthening diaspora communities through events, advocacy, and programs that promote self-sufficiency and collective empowerment.
Who does LHOH serve?
LHH serves individuals and communities within the African and Caribbean diaspora, particularly those who face:
Economic hardship, including low-income families and unemployed individuals.
Educational barriers, such as limited access to quality schooling or vocational training.
Health disparities, with a focus on promoting wellness and mental health within these communities.
Youth, to help them build the skills, confidence, and opportunities needed to succeed.
The organization aims to serve people who may be marginalized, disenfranchised, or otherwise underserved by mainstream services.
