Dakota's Legacy is a car show that we have been doing for the past couple years. We have had huge turnouts the last couple years and we are absolutely thankful for every penny we have ever gotten to help support the 4 Diamonds. We only hope to grow even more to help spread more awareness and bring in even more participants to help our cause.
Dakota is Beth and RJ's late son. Dakota lost his long battle to a rare brain tumor known as DIPG. Every year when we have this show not only to honor Dakota but to also honor the others who have been lost to the same illness. We do everything we can to go bigger, We aim higher every show because all of the proceeds get donated to the Dallastown Mini•Thon for the 4 Diamonds Foundation in Dakota's name.
DIPG is a type of cancer that wraps itself around the brainstem. This specific type of cancer typically shows up in younger kids, Sadly the mortality rate of this cancer is very high. This is because the cancerous cells very rapidly mutate and it is hard to find the correct treatment for each mutation.
Dakota's best friend was his older sister, Destiny. They were inseparable, Always together. Dakota and Destiny both loved Soccer, Cars, and Spending time with their family.
On Destiny's 16th birthday she got a custom made hood for her car. The hood featured pictures of Dakota through his life; In the center of the hood it says 'In memory of Dakota J Himes".
Being so close to someone with cancer knowing that things could go south very quick takes a major toll on someone. Knowing that person is your child can literally destroy a person, but Beth & RJ never let it show.
Our goal is to Raise as much money as we can as a club for Dakota. We hope that one day soon we can help in finding a cure for cancer, knowing that we helped in every way we could. This is why everything we make off of the 'Dakota's Legacy' car show gets donated to the Dallastown Four Diamonds mini•thon to help find a cure.
Our 2025 Dakota's Legacy show went off without a hitch! we had 50 - 75 car show and register to display their hot rides and creative expressions with them. Besides the cars the show featured 5 vendors, A food truck, low car limbo and even A Power wheels Race! In all the shows was spectacular and allowed us to Remember Dakota while also allowing us to spread awareness for DIPG and raise money for the Dallastown Four Diamonds.
Here we can see one of our club presidents rocking out in a tank Power Wheels. She was our main defense, Scoping out the front lines!
Low car limbo is just as it seems, and is definitely a fan favorite at all of our shows. Although some people may see driving in circles a bit silly, we love it! The event allows all participants to gather around and watch, or even enter their car to see whose car gets to be crowned as the limbo champ!
