About Lake Echo Farmers Market
The Lake Echo Farmers Market began out of curiosity... and a little frustration. Frustration with limited grocery store options and curiosity about where our food and everyday goods really come from. What started as a personal interest in locally sourced goods quickly grew into a passion project rooted in community.
Founded by Ashley, a Lake Echo resident and an entrepreneur at heart who is always looking for ways to bring people together, this market was created with a simple belief: when we support local growers and makers, we strengthen our entire community.
The Lake Echo Farmers Market is more than a place to shop. It’s a place where fresh produce is harvested closer to home, often at peak ripeness, with high nutrient value and a lower carbon footprint. It’s where small-batch goods are crafted with care, where your money stays in the local economy, and where conversations replace checkout lines.
Important Information for Visitors:
Vendors may accept cash, debit, or credit depending on their individual setup.
Free parking is available and public washrooms are located within the Rec Centre.

I opened the studio in the former St. Barnabas church in Head of Chezzetcook so that I could expand and teach pottery lessons on the wheel as well. I also have pottery for sale in the space and have done commissions for people. I also offer private pottery workshops for groups such as birthday parties, work events and the like. For folks who do pottery on their own, I rent out space in my kiln for people to fire their pieces.

Hello! I started my business as a stay at home mom who desperately needed a creative outlet to get through the trenches of raising young children. I started working with clay, and found such a sense of calm while my hands worked, that I evolved it into a business!

Before it was used for recreation, the Lake Echo District Park was formerly the location of a sawmill and lumber processing facility. The lake was essential in this process for the movement and storage of lumber.
The northernmost portion of the park property was acquired by the municipality from Irving Oil Company Limited in 1998. This land formerly housed a gas station that had been in operation since 1958. In the early 1990s, the former Municipality of Halifax County acquired the title from the Province conditional upon the property being used for recreation.
The Lake Echo Community Centre was built in the 1980s with an addition in the late 1990s. The Lake Echo Lions Club managed the centre until 2011 when Regional Council approved a management takeover of the facility. A community board of volunteers was established in 2012 to oversee program and building operations. The Lake Echo Community Recreation Society continues to oversee the management of the facility, and is thrilled to partner with community stakeholders.
