We study stress, trauma, and various neuropsychiatric conditions, focusing not just on patients' symptoms, but on the underlying brain mechanisms that explain why they occur. Many of our current projects examine how physical and environmental factors—such as repeated trauma exposure, chronic pain, poor sleep quality, and metabolic diseases—fundamentally alter the brain's structural, functional, and metabolic networks, drawing on neuroimaging, clinical, and molecular biological perspectives. We use a variety of methods in our research, including multimodal neuroimaging, neuropsychological assessments and blood biomarker and gene analyses.
