So you want to record a lecture for your students. Whether you want to create a series for a flipped classroom, or want to give students access to them for later review, a video is a new way to engage students.
The software I use is Open Broadcasting Software. It is flexible, easy to use, and most importantly, free.
I don’t claim to know all the ins and outs – I am only showing you the quickest way to a recorded video.
Unless you are well versed in presentations, you will make mistakes. An in-person presentation allows for flaws; a video makes the flaws permanent, and can be distracting. A suggestion would be to plan and practice your presentation.
· Write a script – it doesn’t need to be word for word. However, you want it to be representative of your flow. Prepare as if you were preparing for a formal presentation, as to your confidence.
· Practice – for myself, the first few runs helps me iron out kinks in my script, places where the flow of the script is not like how I present. Also, this is the time I can practice the timings of the powerpoint
