Infrastructure is exposed to various uncertainties throughout its long design life and massive scale. At S3 Lab, we conduct research to probabilistically quantify how loads—such as traffic and wind—affect structural safety. We also investigate the strength degradation of structural components caused by deterioration mechanisms like corrosion and fatigue cracking. Our goal is to provide engineering-based assessments of a structure's safety through its life-cycle.
Recruiting
S3 lab is currently accepting applications for undergraduate interns and graduate students. We welcome candidates interested in structural deterioration, including corrosion and fatigue, load effect assessment, life cycle assessment of infrastructures, and AI applications. For more details about the positions, please feel free to contact Prof. Lee-Sak An (lan@kongju.ac.kr).
