Ladysmith Educational Enrichment Fund is pleased to announce the presentation of $9,025 in grants for educational enrichment from the Fall 2025 Application round.
Grants include $2,565 to Dave Tindol for an 8th grade trip to the Duluth Aquarium, $560.80 to Lilia Meives for students to participate in the UWEC Honors Choir, $800 to Jennifer Kempen for a Math Matters Fair, $2,500 to Cory Verdegan for the HOSA state Leadership Conference, and $2,500 to Kathy Plahuta to establish an Elementary Fab Lab.
LEEF started as a small fund with the Rusk County Community Foundation. Since it’s inception and with generous additional support from the Gullstads (former owners of the local paper mill) and the community, LEEF now has a substantial fund to support enrichment activities that the district cannot afford. LEEF and RCCF are now also affiliated with ECCF.
Teachers receiving grants include (left to right): Dave Tindol (8th Grade Duluth Aquarium Trip); Lilia Meives (UWEC Honors Choirs); Jennifer Kempen (Math Matters Fair) and Cory Verdegan (HOSA State Leadership Conference).
Kathy Plahuta, LES Librarian, received award plaque.
