Standard E-Edition format: All publications that publish a printed paper 3-days a week will follow this format for their e-editions on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Friday:
A1/A2: Cover and jumps. This can be 2-3 local or wire stories. Page 2 will include the pub box.
A3: Obituaries and/or local stories. If no content is provided, you can house ad the space.
A4: Weather with local and/or ads. If nothing is provided for under the weather, the Design Center will place a house ad.
A5: Full page of classifieds or ads. If no ads are provided, page A5 will be skipped. If additional ad spots are needed, those will go on A6, A7, etc.
Monday E-Editions: All publications that publish a printed paper 6-days a week will have a regular size e-edition for their Monday paper. They may choose to go down in page count if preferred. Proofing will be limited to cover and jumps for most publications unless you request a 1st proof in your RPM notes.
Holiday E-Editions: All publications except for Madison, Buffalo, Richmond and St. Louis will use the 4-5 page layout below as their holiday e-edition. These select sites may choose to have a full page count for their holiday e-edition.
Notes for editors:
Please provide budgets in RPM for all pages with local content.
The Design Center would like to know your content plans by 6 p.m. CST. Please make budgets Content Ready in RPM or relay your plans to your designer in your designated Teams channel. This will help the design staff complete pages where local is not needed in advance of the deadlines.
If you intend to have late stories for your e-edition, please provide the time the content will arrive. If content will arrive after 11 p.m., please alert the Design Center so we can adjust our schedules because your daily designer's shift may end before that timeframe.
Deadlines are set in RPM for all e-editions based on the sites' request. The Design Center requests that you honor these deadlines as if they were normal print deadlines. We staff our design teams according to these times - missing your deadline can cause issues. If you need a later deadline - either for one night or permanently - please send an email to Customer Service to have your deadline adjusted.
Note: We will not be customizing the Nation/World page - every site will run the one that publishes with the "O" pages
No action needed for the next group of pages - these will automatically load on every e-edition
The "Y" pages will be renamed to the "O" section so they fall directly after the local content. These pages will include features like Nation/World, topical news, Comics/puzzles, Advice, TV, Lifestyles, Feature topical, Sports topical, Scoreboard, etc. The number of O pages will be determined by the number of shared content modules each day.
The puzzle pages (P pages) will follow the O section.
Bonus Comics with end the e-edition as X pages.
