Lee Wires harnesses the Sun in "All I Need Is You"

Lee Wires is ready to bask in the summer sun with "All I Need Is You", a love song that directs its attention to the Earth's life-source: the Sun. Previously releasing music under Egg Records, a local San Diego label, this release marks the beginning of a new journey, one that is more independent. This is the first time where all the assets of a song have been produced by Mexican-American singer-songwriter Luis Mireles (Fake Tides/Former) including the entire recording process and the artwork itself.

Lee Wires is the musical persona of Mireles, where he mixes his eclectic taste in music to create indie rock tunes that triggers instant nostalgia. Formed during the 2020 pandemic, Mireles wanted a break from the garage rock/post-punk styles of his previous bands and shift into something more dynamic and mellow.  Mostly deriving from genres such as jazz and bossa nova, this time he calls back to 60's/70's Latino soul in his latest single.

Initially conceived from a songwriting course curated by Martin Courtney of Real Estate back in late 2023, Mireles selected this song to be used for Sounds of City, Vol. I, a compilation album released through San Diego City College's record label, SD Knights. Written during rehabilitation, Mireles wishes to shine a positive light on others and himself with a powerful message of hope through this new track: "When people listen to this song, I want them to feel less lonely. In today's world, it's getting harder and harder to maintain happiness with everything going on around us, especially with the genocide that's happening in Gaza. Even for those who can't call anyone a friend, we forget that above our heads, we can harness the positive energy that is our friend, the Sun, and absorb the benefits from the natural resource. In this world we live in, it's the only thing that has not been tampered with by greedy corporations."

"All I Need Is You" releases on May 8th wherever you stream music. Be sure to catch Lee Wires performing his latest single at San Diego City College in Freedom Square (located between the L and M Buildings) on May 22nd at 4pm, along with other artists from the compilation.
