Lee Generous founded Generous Wealth Management, a virtual advisory firm based in Massachusetts. As a wealth advisor with deep experience in investment strategy, tax planning, and holistic financial management, Lee has built a practice dedicated to helping clients create purposeful, lasting financial security. His firm offers an integrated family office-style experience, combining tax, investment, and legacy planning for individuals, families, and business owners who value clarity and long-term vision. Lee holds multiple professional designations, including Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), Enrolled Agent (EA), and Dope CFO Certified Advisor, reflecting his ongoing commitment to education and precision in his field.
Born in Dorchester and raised in Marshfield, Massachusetts, Lee learned discipline and determination early in life. Diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at only 20 months old, he was introduced to structure, consistency, and the importance of careful monitoring principles that would later guide his professional approach to financial planning. His interest in finance began in childhood when he used savings from his paper route to buy his first mutual fund. That simple act sparked a lifelong fascination with investing, analysis, and the discipline of financial growth.
Lee Michael Generous pursued higher education at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, earning dual bachelor’s degrees in Economics and Political Science in 2004. While in college, he started a small business to help fund his education, giving him hands-on experience in entrepreneurship and money management. Seeking to strengthen his technical foundation, he earned a Certificate in Financial Planning from Boston University’s Center for Professional Education. He later completed the Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) program through The American College of Financial Services. He achieved the Enrolled Agent (EA) designation, allowing him to represent clients in all areas of taxation before the IRS.
Lee began his professional career in 2005 at Fidelity Investments in Boston, one of the nation’s largest financial institutions. During his tenure, he worked across several divisions, including pricing, cash management, and family office services. He collaborated with institutional investors, managed financial reporting for global securities, and supported high-net-worth clients. His focus on accuracy and process improvement earned him recognition through Fidelity’s chairman's share award for outstanding contributions.
In 2015, Lee joined an independent LPL advisory firm in Braintree, Massachusetts, as a Wealth Advisor. He managed a large portion of the firm’s client relationships there, offering comprehensive planning that integrated investments, retirement, tax, and estate strategies. His leadership helped improve efficiency and client service, contributing to the firm’s growth and success.
In 2021, after years of professional growth, Lee founded Generous Wealth Management, fulfilling his long-held goal of offering independent, client-centered financial guidance. The firm officially received approval from the Massachusetts Securities Division in 2022. Built on transparency, education, and precision, Generous Wealth Management provides clients with a cohesive planning experience that unites all aspects of financial life.
Lee’s personal experiences profoundly influenced his decision to establish the firm. After supporting his wife through a successful recovery from cancer and managing his own health during the pandemic, he gained an even greater appreciation for resilience and balance. These lessons shaped his mission to help clients find peace of mind through proactive, long-term financial planning.
Lee Generous's expertise extends beyond traditional wealth management. He advises on accounting, tax compliance, and strategic planning, helping clients navigate the industry’s unique financial and regulatory complexities. In addition, he serves on the National Cannabis Industry Association’s Banking and Finance Committee, where he contributes to financial advocacy, policy, and education.
Beyond his professional achievements, Lee is deeply committed to service and education. He volunteers at the Boston Pine Street Inn, supports the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), and participates in the Eversource Walk for Boston Children’s Hospital. His involvement reflects his belief that financial success means little without giving back to the community.
