Effective date: 24 September 2026
Ledge is a clipboard manager and snippet library for Mac and iPhone, made by Gaurav Kukreja ("I", "me"). This policy explains what Ledge does with your information. The short version: what you save in Ledge stays on your devices and in your own iCloud account. I don't run servers for Ledge, I don't have an account system, and I never see the things you save.
Ledge keeps the items you choose to save: text, links, images, screenshots, files, folders, snippets, tags, notes, and pins. It also keeps information it creates from those items on your device, such as text recognised in images, suggested titles and tags, and a search index.
All of this is stored locally on your Mac or iPhone, inside Ledge's own storage area that other apps can't read.
I have no access to any of it. It is never sent to me.
If you turn on iCloud sync (a Ledge Pro feature), your library is copied between your own devices through your personal iCloud account, using Apple's private CloudKit database. You can choose in Settings whether images, files, and folders are included, and set a size limit.
This data is stored by Apple under your Apple Account and governed by Apple's privacy policy. I cannot read it. Only devices signed into your Apple Account can.
Ledge also stores two small values in your iCloud key-value storage so that your devices stay in step: a random identifier used for purchases (see section 4), and whether sync is on. Neither contains personal information.
You can turn sync off at any time in Ledge's Settings. To delete synced data, open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name, then iCloud, then Manage Storage, and delete Ledge's data. On a Mac, use System Settings, your name, iCloud, then Manage.
On the Mac, Ledge reads the clipboard so it can save what you copy. It does this only on your Mac, and it skips content from password managers, content that apps mark as confidential or temporary, and anything copied while a password field is in use. You can pause capture or add apps to an ignore list at any time.
If you allow Accessibility access on the Mac, Ledge uses it only to press Command-V for you after you choose something to paste. It does not read your screen or record your keystrokes.
If you choose a screenshots folder, Ledge reads new screenshots in that folder so their text becomes searchable.
On iPhone, Ledge only saves what you give it: through the share sheet, the camera, photos, files, the clipboard button, or Shortcuts. iOS asks you before Ledge reads the clipboard.
Ledge Pro is sold through Apple's App Store. Apple processes the payment. I never receive your card details, name, or email address.
Ledge uses RevenueCat (revenuecat.com) to check whether you have Ledge Pro and to keep your purchase working across your devices. For this, RevenueCat receives:
- a random identifier created by Ledge (not your name, email, or Apple ID)
- your purchase and subscription history for Ledge, from Apple
- basic technical details such as app version, device type, operating system version, and country or region
RevenueCat does not receive anything you save in Ledge. RevenueCat's privacy policy is at revenuecat.com/privacy.
When you save a link, Ledge can fetch that web page's title and icon directly from the website, so the link is easier to recognise. The website sees an ordinary request from your device, including your IP address, just as if you had opened the link. You can turn link previews off in Settings.
Text recognition in images, image descriptions, suggested titles and tags, search by meaning, and translation all run on your device using Apple's built-in frameworks, including Apple Intelligence where available. Your content is not sent to me or to any AI service for these features.
- No advertising.
- No analytics or usage tracking.
- No tracking across other apps or websites.
- No selling or sharing of your data.
- No accounts, and no data on any server run by me.
Your items stay until you delete them. Deleted items go to the Trash and are removed after 30 days, or immediately if you empty the Trash. You can also set Ledge to delete older unpinned items automatically.
Deleting the app removes everything stored on that device. Synced data can be deleted from iCloud as described in section 2.
Ledge is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.
If this policy changes, I will update this page and the effective date above. Significant changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
