Raden Rahmatullah Commonly known as Sunan Ampel is one of the most influential members of the Wali Songo, the group of nine Islamic scholars who helped spread Islam in Java. He was born in Champa and later traveled to the island to teach Islamic values to local communities. Known for his calm and wise personality, Sunan Ampel quickly gained respect from many people and became an important spiritual leader.

One of his greatest contributions is the establishment of the Ampel Mosque in Surabaya. Built in the 15th century, the mosque served as a center for religious learning and community activities. Many students came to study under Sunan Ampel, and some of them later became well-known figures in the Wali Songo. Today, the mosque remains a popular pilgrimage site for visitors who want to understand more about Indonesia’s Islamic heritage.

Sunan Ampel is also known for his emphasis on moral values and good behavior. He taught that honesty, kindness, and discipline are essential in building a peaceful and harmonious society. To this day, his teachings continue to inspire many Indonesians to live meaningful and responsible lives. Currently, his tomb, located at Jl. Ampel Blumbang No.2A, Kec. Semampir, Surabaya, has become a popular religious tourist destination.
