Exodus Web3 Wallet: Features, Benefits, Security, and Wallet Recovery Guide
Exodus Web3 Wallet: Features, Benefits, Security, and Wallet Recovery Guide
The Exodus Web3 Wallet was designed to help cryptocurrency users explore decentralized applications, manage digital assets, and connect with blockchain-based services through a browser extension. Its self-custody approach allowed users to maintain control of their wallet's private keys while accessing supported Web3 networks.
Important update: Exodus ended support for its Web3 Wallet browser extension on October 1, 2026. New users can no longer install it, and existing users cannot use the discontinued extension to view balances or send and receive cryptocurrency. Users with existing wallets should follow the official recovery guidance to access their funds. Official announcement.
Exodus Web3 Wallet was a browser-based cryptocurrency wallet intended for interacting with decentralized applications, decentralized finance platforms, and other Web3 services. It offered tools for managing supported digital assets and connecting wallet addresses to blockchain applications.
The extension supported networks including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, Algorand, and Arbitrum One. Its available functions depended on the supported network and asset.
Although the extension has been discontinued, Exodus continues to provide other wallet products, including its mobile and desktop applications.
The wallet gave users control over their secret recovery phrase and private keys. This approach meant users were responsible for protecting their recovery information and securing their devices.
Before discontinuation, the extension enabled users to connect with supported decentralized applications, blockchain games, NFT services, and DeFi platforms.
The wallet supported sending, receiving, and swapping eligible digital assets. Available transaction options varied according to network compatibility and integrated services.
The wallet used a 12-word secret recovery phrase to restore access. Protecting this phrase was essential because anyone who obtained it could potentially control the associated assets.
Exodus products offer a straightforward interface for managing supported cryptocurrencies. Their self-custody model gives users control over their keys, while compatible applications provide access to portfolio management and other wallet functions.
For former Web3 Wallet users, restoring a wallet in a supported application can help maintain access to assets without relying on the discontinued browser extension. Users should verify network compatibility before restoring or transferring funds.
Since the browser extension is discontinued, use the official recovery instructions rather than searching for an unofficial replacement extension.
If the extension is still installed, follow Exodus's official instructions for viewing your 12-word secret recovery phrase.
Write down the phrase accurately and keep it in a secure, private location.
Download Exodus Mobile or another compatible wallet from its verified official source.
Select the wallet restoration option and enter your recovery phrase only within the trusted wallet application.
Confirm that the expected supported assets and addresses appear after synchronization.
Security warning: Do not uninstall the old extension before securing your recovery phrase if you still need to retrieve it. Exodus states that uninstalling the discontinued extension prevents you from viewing the phrase through that extension.
