I grew up in Kobe, Japan, where language was how I experienced life, culture, and connection. I'm a native Japanese speaker, and language lover.
I love traveling, learning languages, and meeting people from different cultures, and that curiosity brought me to teaching. So many adults want to learn Japanese but feel too intimidated to start, and that's exactly why I created Learn Japanese with Mana.
My classes are short, practical, and built around your real life, not a textbook. Whether you're living in Japan or learning from overseas, you're welcome here. Let's do this together!
I believe learning languages should be fun! Language comes alive when you're laughing, curious, and genuinely enjoying the process.
In my classes, fun and encouragement come first, always. There's no rush, no pressure and no judgement here. Just warm, genuine lessons built around your real life, at your own pace.
That moment is my favorite part of teaching, and I can't wait to share it with you.
I hold a nationally recognised 420-hour Japanese Teacher Training qualification, including 50+ hours of hands-on teaching practice. Based in Kansai, Japan, I have around 2 years of teaching experience across in-person classes in Kobe and online one-on-one sessions. I also bring experience as an English instructor, giving me a unique understanding of what it feels like to learn a language from scratch. My lessons blend the best of both direct and indirect teaching methods, always delivered with full English support so you never feel lost.
The Best of Both Worlds (Indirect & Direct Method Combined)
Pure Japanese-only lessons can feel overwhelming for beginners, and pure translation-based lessons can slow down your natural fluency. A hybrid approach gives you the best of both worlds!
Lessons explained mainly in English, building a clear and logical foundation from the very start.
Lessons are 60% - 80% is in Japanese, with English support for nuance and tricky explanations.
The language of instruction can be adjusted according to each student's needs and preferences.
