Whether you’re looking to help your child learn the fundamentals of reading, strategies to boost comprehension and vocabulary, gain the necessary skills to be successful in math, or just need general homework assistance, we’re here to help! Ryan and I are both committed to creating an environment where students feel safe to try new things, make mistakes, learn from them, and build confidence along the way.
Both Stamford Public School teachers for 5+ years, we are certified to teach grades K-6. During the school year, Ryan teaches 5th grade at Northeast Elementary, and I teach 4th grade at Roxbury Elementary. We both hold dual Master’s Degrees in both Elementary Education and Educational Technology. We have both been tutoring on the side for a few years, but have recently decided to make our services more available!
Reading: If your child is having trouble with phonics, we can offer direct instruction and practice with the 7 syllable types to strengthen their decoding ability. If your child is currently reading, but having difficulty comprehending text, we can offer strategies to help identify text structure, make inferences, and respond to text.
Writing: Writing can be daunting for many children, especially as they get older and are required to write 5 paragraph essays. We provide scaffolds and modeling to help your child elaborate on their thinking in an organized structure.
Math: Whether your child needs help in 1:1 number correspondence, multi-digit multiplication, or fraction word problems, we can help your child visualize and offer different ways of thinking about math concepts that will build their skill set and confidence.
Science: Need help preparing for the 5th grade NGSS assessment? We're here to help!
SBAC Test Prep: Want a little extra practice before the SBAC tests in the spring? We'll help your child break down those tricky worded questions to feel confident before going in.
Homework Help: Is homework a cause of struggle? We can help your child complete their assigned work and grow towards independence.
