My name is Jada Reeves and I am an assistant principal for Raleigh County Schools in Southern WV. Before I began my current job assignment, I served as an academic coach for 4 years, I was a 5th-grade teacher, a Title I reading teacher for 10 years, and before that, I taught Kindergarten for 3.
I graduated from Concord College with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education K-6. I then went on to receive my Reading Specialist Master’s Degree through Marshall University Graduate College. The majority of my classes through the course of my Master’s program were online and I have taken several eLearning classes through WVDE. I received my National Board Certification in Literacy and Language for early & middle elementary school as well, which is a rewarding experience, and would suggest it to any teacher. I have obtained my administrator’s certificate as well. Currently, I am pursuing my doctorate through Walden University in Curriculum, Instruction, Assessment. I am an adjunct professor at Concord University. I was also the 2019 West Virginia State Teacher of the Year and have finished my reign!
In addition, I also facilitate the summer support sessions for National Board Awareness through WVDE and am the Lead Coordinator for the Southern WV National Board Certification Cohort. This is my passion and excited to share it with anyone who asks. Most recently, I met the creator of the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, which was a complete honor. Not many people do not know he was from West Virginia. Being part of this amazing network totally changed my perspective on educating students.
I have a wonderful husband and two children, ages 17 & 15, which keep me quite busy. I have a Basset Hound named Chubbs, which my family adores. We also adopted another mixed hound. Her name is Fantasia and is the sweetest dog in the world. We adopted a kitten that had a broken paw and had many infections that we are nursing her back to health. So she had friends to play with, yes, we adopted three more cats!
In my spare time, when I am not running everyone to and from their activities and coaching sports, I enjoy working out, kayaking, hiking, reading, cooking, and watching Netflix. I love trying new recipes, especially from Pinterest, which I am addicted to. I also like interacting with technology and am always researching ways to incorporate it into the lessons that I create with the teachers I work with.
Please feel free to contact me by email at funwvteacher@gmail.com. I can’t wait to meet you and embark on this exciting journey to help you achieve your goals!
