This course was created with the use of Merrill’s First Principles of Instruction which consist of five interrelated components:

Task-centred (focusing learning around real-world problems),
Activation (linking new knowledge to prior experience),
Demonstration (showing learners how to perform tasks), Application (providing opportunities for guided practice), and
Integration (encouraging reflection and transfer to new contexts).
Together, these principles ensure that instruction is meaningful, builds on students’ existing knowledge, and culminates in the ability to apply and adapt skills in authentic settings.
