THE ARTSAKH STRUGGLE
We believe The Caucasian Knot to be of the most fundamental texts on the Artsakh struggle.
In a stunning display, the authors explore every intricacy of Artsakh, from its history to its independence movement and liberation war, carefully dissecting myths and misconceptions along the way.
From the same authors of Survivors: An Oral History of the Armenian Genocide, this beautiful project features Armenian stories and accounts from the height of the Artsakh movement. The authors focus on personal testimonies from Armenians who witnessed the Sumgait massacre, lived through the turkish-imposed economic blockade, survived Spitak earthquake, or served on the frontlines.
A concise history of both Armenia and Artsakh, highlighting the oppressions under Russian, Turkish, and British rulers.
Gha-ra-bagh! The Emergence of the National Democratic Movement in Armenia shines a light on the Soviet Union's very first national movement - a movement which changed the political consciousness of Armenians forever.
The Right to Struggle includes selected writings from Monte Melkonian, a California-born Armenian socialist revolutionary. Monte famously led Armenians to victory in the Artsakh Liberation War, and participated in many transnational struggles as well, from the Palestinian liberation movement to the Lebanese Civil War.
My Brother's Road offers more insight into the life of Monte Melkonian, written by his very own brother.
Monte Melkonian's A Self-Criticism gives readers a rare look into one of the most secretive organization of its time - the Armenian Secret Army for the Liberation of Armenia.
Father Land, written and photographed by an Armenian father and son pair, is self-described as a poetic and personal journey through Artsakh.
The Making of Nagorno-Karabakh: From Secession to Republic chronicles the Armenian people's struggle for self-determination towards the end of the Soviet Union.
Turkey and the Karabakh Conflict is authored by Hayk Demoyan, Director of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute. It analyzes the significant role Turkey has played in the oppression and ethnic cleansings of Artsakh.
A prominent writer and journalist from the Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Oblast, Leonid Hurunts dedicated his entire life to uncovering and recording the persecution of Armenians by Azerbaijan. As part of our archiving project, Learn for Artsakh has translated Hurunts' last work from its original Russian to English.
Learn for Artsakh is happy to announce it has translated Soviet Karabakh's articles published between 1988-1992, covering the Artsakh Liberation War and other notable issues of the time.
Sovetakan Karabakh (Soviet Karabakh) was founded in 1923. It largely focused on the "Karabakh Problem," chronicling the persecution of the indigenous Karabakh / Artsakh Armenians and expressing their will for self-determination. Often, the editors of Soviet Karabakh were fired or persecuted when writing about the injustices perpetrated against the Armenians of Karabakh by the Azerbaijani SSR.
The translated articles include first-hand accounts of the trials and tribulations of Artsakh-Armenians: their hopes, their dreams, their wit, their perseverance, and their struggle! Join us in reading the thoughts and stories of Artsakh-Armenians living through the precipice of change.
A comprehensive analysis on the pan-Turkish expansionist campaign Turkey and Azerbaijan waged against Armenia in 1918-1920, and the significant yet overlooked role Britain played.
The events echo eerily similar to the Artsakh blockade and exodus of 2023, revealing a Genocide a century in the making.
