"Change can be tough, but I've never heard anyone say it wasn't worth it." ~Carol Dweck, Mindset
The following innovation plan addresses an opportunity for growth in our educational system. Let’s get inspired, and motivated to change from a traditional classroom setting, to a blended learning environment that supports flexibility, student agency, and personalized learning. Change is certainly a part of life, and there is no better time than the present to shift to an educational environment that supports both face to face, and online learning. The following links will guide you through research and discovery of the importance of implementing blended learning in the classroom. Let’s come together to create a change in the lives of our future generations!
In this innovation proposal letter, I am asking for the opportunity to implement a pilot of a flex model in a blended learning environment in my classroom this year, so that my students can become self-directed learners. I developed this innovation proposal so that it will be used to impact and start a change for my students in our classroom, but plan to share it with other teachers, and schools in the near future.
In my Literature Review, I researched and found a lot of valuable, published information that supports my innovation plan. I included some of the different books, and articles that backed up my ideas, and exploration. I believe that it is important to share what I have learned with my community, and colleagues. We are stronger together! This is a summary of the studies that I found that informs readers of a potential solution to a traditional educational setting by providing a flex model of blended learning in the classroom to promote learner independence, or student agency.
This implementation outline will lay out the phases, steps, and timeframe that I will take to carry out a flex model approach of blended learning in my classroom to promote student agency and customized learning for a more personal, individualized, educational experience for every student. It is a strategic action plan that I will follow to meet my goals and objectives to create a significant learning environment that supports student choice, ownership, voice, and authentic learning. This step-by-step guide will be the blueprint that I use to incorporate blended learning into my classroom, and potentially other classrooms to follow.
Since this is just the beginning of my educational journey to my Master’s Degree in the ADL program at Lamar, my learning does not stop here. In this annotated bibliography, I have listed resources that I plan to study to further my growth and understanding of an innovative approach to the traditional classroom environment, and the best ways to help learners succeed in their personalized, educational journey in a supportive, blended learning community.
