David V. Loertscher has degrees from the University of Utah, the University of Washington and a Ph.D. from Indiana University. He has been a school library media specialist in Nevada and Idaho at both the elementary and secondary school levels. He has taught at Purdue University, The University of Arkansas, The University of Oklahoma, and is presently a professor at the School of Information at San José State University. He served as head of the editorial department at Libraries Unlimited for ten years and is President of Hi Willow Research & Publishing (distributed by LMC Source at www.lmcsource.com). He has been a president of the American Association of School Librarians.
Blanche Woolls is a forer elementary (K-8) school librarian, a district coordinator in two school districts, and a Professor Emerita from The University of Pittsburgh and San Jose State University.She is a past President of the International Association of School Librarianship and the American Association of School Librarians. With Phil Tuner and David Loetscher, she co-founded the popular Treasure Mountain Retreats to initiate, and support school library research with practitioners and school library educators and researchers. Her memberships in IASL and AASL as well as the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) have given her opportunities to organize workshops and conferences as well as to speak throughout the U.S. and countries around the world.
Fran Kompar is a 25-year veteran in Library Media and Digital Learning, recently retired as the Director of Digital Learning for Wilton Public Schools in Connecticut. She led a district-wide digital learning transformation and reimagined school libraries as Library Learning Commons. She has been recognized with the CASL Administrator of the Year Award (2007) and the Hilda and John Jay Award (2015) for her contributions to the profession. Now an educational consultant, she focuses on the evolving role of Library Media Specialists in the age of AI.
