Hi there, my name is Alessandra De Acetis!
I am currently in my second year of teacher's college at Brock University. I recently finished my undergrad with a BASc degree in Families and Communities and a college diploma in social service work. I’ve been extremely passionate about teaching for as long as I can remember. Playing teacher in my basement is where those dreams all began. Each day in the classroom with students strengthens and confirms my desire to be an educator. I’ve experienced teaching opportunities in various ways. I worked in a daycare for 3 years teaching children ages 3-6 reading, writing, and math. In daycare, I spent a lot of time working with students on counting, their ABCs, play, and motor skills. I also have experience in primary grades including grades 1 and 2 where I worked on students' language abilities such as spelling, sentence structures, letter and word recognition, reading, and reading comprehension skills. In addition to experience in primary grades, I also have experience working in a special education classroom in a high school where there was a wide range of needs. In this placement, I worked with students on life skills such as social skills, self-care, functional reading and math, and leisure and recreational skills. My experiences were very diverse, which gave me the opportunity to grow as an educator. I am looking forward to working with your children and enriching their learning experiences.
Hey everyone! My name is Keesha Goosney.
I am a teacher candidate in her 6th year at Brock University who is passionate about teaching. In April 2021, I will be graduating with duel degrees - a BA in Child and Youth Studies and a BEd in Education (primary/junior). For the past 6 years I have been in the concurrent education program that has focused on child development and education. Alongside my degrees, I have many additional experiences with teaching. I have had teaching experiences in kindergarten, grade 2, and grade 7/8. Alongside my placements, I have other teaching experiences. For two years, I was a LLI (Levelled Literacy Intervention) tutor in a public school. In this position, I focused on the language and literacy development of students K-4 who were below grade level. It was a program designed to get extra literacy help in hopes of getting them to grade level. Likewise, I was a remediation plus teacher for one year. This intervention was focused on phonological and phonemic awareness in order to get students to learn and recognize letters and sounds. I also have experience working with children who have exceptionalities as part of a Children's Movement Program that focused on their physical development. Additionally, I have been an ECA (early childhood assistant) in the daycare system for two years. I also have many certificates relating to mental health, child protection, and healthy development. I look forward to working with your child and watching their education flourish!
