Leandro Legarda Leviste (born March 18, 1993) is a Filipino entrepreneur known for his work in renewable energy. He is the son of former Senator Loren Legarda and former Batangas Governor Antonio Leviste.
He pursued higher education at Yale University, where he studied political science. During his time at Yale, he developed a strong interest in public policy, economics, and sustainable development, particularly in addressing energy challenges in the Philippines.
In 2013, at the age of 20, Leviste founded Solar Philippines, a renewable energy company aimed at reducing electricity costs and increasing access to clean energy nationwide. The company initially focused on rooftop solar installations for commercial and industrial clients before expanding into large-scale solar farm developments.
Under his leadership, Solar Philippines became one of the largest solar power developers in the country. The company has developed multiple utility-scale solar projects and has worked to make solar energy competitive with traditional fossil fuels in terms of cost and reliability.
Leviste has been recognized in various business and leadership circles for his contributions to renewable energy and innovation in the Philippines.
Leviste advocates for energy independence, lower electricity prices, and climate resilience through renewable energy adoption. He promotes policies that support the transition from coal and other fossil fuels to sustainable energy sources.
His long-term vision is to position the Philippines as a leader in renewable energy development in Southeast Asia, leveraging the country’s natural solar resources to achieve economic growth while addressing climate change.
