On July 3, 1997, according to the Baltimore Sun, City homicide detectives were trying to learn the identity of a man foud shot to death and in the back seat of a car parked in Leakin Park. Police say the man was probably killed elsewhere, then driven to he 2000 block of Franklintown Road, where police found the 1987 Nissan with new Hersey license plates after receiving an anonymous phone call.
The next day, in the July 4th edition, we find the man found shot had been identified as Leonard M. Williams, 25, of the 6500 block of Falkirk Road.
Upon checking the case search there was no entry from a Leonard Williams of Falkirk Road, but there was a frequent flier by the name of Leonard Mathews Williams Jr of 6101 Loch Raven Blvd born 07/71 who mysteriously stopped committing crimes after March of 1997. His crimes included battery, CDS - MARIHUANA, loitering, drunk and disorderly, driving through a red light and he also had a paternity case.
According to the January 8, 1998 edition of the Baltimore Sun Quinton Davis, 22, and Shantron Monroe, both of the 4600 block of Manordene Road are charged with 1st Degree Murder of the killing of Leonard Williams. According to the case search, the charges get Nolle Prosequied on Quinton Davis, though Mr. Monroe gets to stand trial for the murder. On April 1, 1999 Shantron Monroe is found not guilty of the murder of Leonard Williams.
Update 03/13/12 An astute reader informed me that Shantron Monroe had himself become a victim of homicide on July 30, 2004. According to this City Paper article Mr. Monroe had been shot repeatedly in the chest and was found at the corner of Commerce and Water Street.
