Hi! My name is Leah Schätzler and I am the PI of the project Evolutionary problems in noncylindrical domains within the Erwin Schrödinger program of the Austrian Science Fund FWF. This project enables my current stay at the Department of Mathematics and Systems Analysis at Aalto University in Finland as an academic visitor hosted by Juha Kinnunen.
My research area lies in the study of Partial Differential Equations (PDEs) in connection with the Calculus of Variations. More precisely, I am concerned with existence and regularity theory for a wide class of nonlinear parabolic PDEs and systems. In this context, I investigate the effects of a degenerate or singular behavior of the equations. Moreover, the main focus of my FWF project are phenomena arising from an evolution of the underlying domain in time. Important models of the considered PDEs include the porous medium equation, the parabolic p-Laplacian and certain doubly nonlinear PDEs. They appear in a variety of applications, such as fluid dynamics, filtration processes and models of glaciers.
