Effective date: 10 August 2026
Leafline is operated by reAImagine (“Leafline”, “we”, “us” or “our”).
We built Leafline to help you care for your plants without collecting more information than the app needs. This Privacy Policy explains what information Leafline processes, why it is used, where it is stored, and the choices available to you.

Information stored on your device
Most of the information that makes up your plant collection is stored locally on your device. This can include:
plant photos;
common and scientific plant names;
watering schedules and watering history;
pot, drainage, light and placement information;
location labels associated with plants;
care recommendations and explanations;
soil recommendations;
saved plant recommendations and questionnaire answers.
Plant photos saved to your collection are stored in Leafline's app-specific storage.
Android may also back up certain app data depending on your device and Google backup settings.
Approximate location
Leafline may ask for permission to use your approximate location.
When permission is granted, Leafline uses the device's recent approximate location to determine information such as your general locality and hemisphere. This helps tailor seasonal watering guidance and plant recommendations to your environment.
Leafline normally converts the location into a human-readable place such as a city, region or country. If that conversion is unavailable, an approximate coordinate may be used instead.
If you do not grant location permission, Leafline can continue using a less precise fallback based on your device's time zone.
Photos and information used by AI features
When you choose to use an AI-powered feature, Leafline sends the information needed to perform that specific request to Leafline's secure backend.
Depending on the feature, this may include:
a plant or probe photograph;
plant name or species;
general location;
pot and drainage information;
lighting and placement;
plant size;
existing plants in your collection;
answers you provide to the plant recommendation questionnaire.
These inputs are used for features such as plant identification, watering guidance, photo-based diagnosis, moisture assessment, soil recommendations and plant recommendations.
The request is processed through Leafline's backend and sent to OpenAI for AI processing. Leafline does not intentionally send your anonymous Firebase user identifier to OpenAI.
Leafline does not save the photographs submitted to AI features in its own cloud photo storage or Firestore database. They are transmitted as part of the request needed to produce the result.
OpenAI processes this information according to its own privacy and API data policies. OpenAI states that API inputs and outputs are not used to train its models by default unless the API customer explicitly opts in.
If you choose to report an AI-generated response, Leafline stores the reported response and the feature it came from so that we can review it and improve our content safeguards. The report does not include the photograph you submitted.
Anonymous app identifier and usage information
Leafline uses Firebase Anonymous Authentication. This creates a random account identifier without asking you for a name, email address or password.
Leafline uses this identifier to operate features such as:
the free analysis allowance;
Leafline Plus access;
AI usage limits;
subscription restoration;
abuse prevention and service security.
Our backend may store information such as the anonymous identifier, free-trial status, numbers of AI requests, approximate AI usage costs, subscription status and relevant timestamps.
We do not use this information to build an advertising profile.
Subscription information
Leafline Plus purchases are handled by Google Play.
Leafline does not receive or store your payment-card details.
To verify and restore a subscription, Leafline receives a Google Play purchase token and sends it securely to the Leafline backend. The backend verifies the subscription with Google Play and stores information needed to maintain your entitlement, such as:
a cryptographic hash of the purchase token;
subscription status;
subscription expiry;
the anonymous Leafline identifiers linked to that purchase.
Google processes purchases according to its own terms and privacy policies.
App and device integrity information
Leafline uses Firebase App Check with Google Play Integrity to help determine whether requests originate from the genuine Leafline app and to reduce abuse of its services.
Google and Firebase may therefore process app/device attestation information required to provide these security services.
Plant recommendation imagery
Leafline may contact iNaturalist to find appropriately licensed photographs for plants shown in recommendations.
Leafline sends plant names as search terms. As with any internet request, iNaturalist may also receive technical network information such as your IP address according to its own policies.
Leafline also maintains aggregate counts of which plant species are recommended so that recommendation imagery can be curated. These counts are not intended to identify individual users.
We use information processed by Leafline to:
provide the features you request;
identify plants and generate care guidance;
create and adjust watering schedules;
provide diagnoses, moisture checks and soil recommendations;
generate personalized plant recommendations;
schedule local watering reminders;
operate the free analysis allowance;
verify and restore Leafline Plus subscriptions;
enforce reasonable AI usage limits;
protect Leafline and its backend from fraud and abuse;
maintain and improve the reliability of the service.
Leafline does not sell your personal data.
Leafline does not contain third-party advertising or use your information for targeted advertising.
Leafline relies on a small number of service providers to operate the app:
Google / Firebase
For anonymous authentication, Cloud Functions, Firestore, App Check and related backend infrastructure.
Google Play
For subscriptions, purchase verification and Play Integrity.
OpenAI
For the AI processing used by plant identification and care features.
iNaturalist
For discovering appropriately licensed plant recommendation images.
These providers process information according to their respective terms and privacy practices.
Plant records, saved recommendations and collection photos stored locally remain on your device until you remove them or the corresponding app data is deleted, subject to any Android backup settings enabled on your device.
When you delete an individual plant in Leafline, its locally stored plant record and associated Leafline photo are removed.
AI request contents are not intentionally retained as plant records in Leafline's own cloud database after the request has been processed. The third-party AI provider may retain API request data for a limited period according to its applicable API data-retention policy. OpenAI currently states that standard API inputs and outputs may be retained for up to 30 days, subject to applicable controls and legal or security requirements.
Anonymous authentication, usage, security and subscription records may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to operate Leafline, restore paid access, prevent abuse, resolve disputes, and meet legal or accounting obligations.
Aggregate plant-recommendation statistics that are not associated with an identifiable user may be retained longer.
You can:
decline approximate-location permission;
disable Leafline's notification permission in Android settings;
delete individual plants from Leafline;
clear Leafline's local data through Android settings;
uninstall Leafline;
request access to or deletion of server-side information associated with you by contacting reaimagineapps@gmail.com.
Because Leafline uses an anonymous identifier rather than a traditional email-based account, we may need information sufficient to identify the relevant anonymous record before completing a server-side data request.
If applicable law gives you additional rights — including rights of access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability or objection — you may exercise them by contacting us.
Leafline uses technical measures intended to protect information, including encrypted network connections, Firebase Authentication, Firebase App Check, Play Integrity, restricted backend access and server-side protection of API credentials.
No internet-based service can guarantee absolute security, but Leafline is designed to limit the amount of personal information collected and to keep sensitive service credentials away from the app.
Some of Leafline's service providers may process information in countries other than the country where you live.
Where required, those providers use legal and contractual mechanisms intended to protect data transferred internationally.
Leafline is not designed or directed specifically at children.
If you believe that a child has provided personal information through Leafline in circumstances where consent was required, contact us at reaimagineapps@gmail.com so that we can investigate and take appropriate action.
We may update this Privacy Policy when Leafline's features, service providers or legal obligations change.
When we make a material change, we will update the effective date shown at the top of this policy.
