Thank-you for your interest in applying to Leading Tone Music Studio. We are a small, Calgary-based music studio that offers in-studio and online lessons to students of all ages, starting as young as 3 years of age. We offer private lessons in various instruments including piano, violin, guitar and drums. Recently we've added voice, ukulele and wind instruments. We also offer group keyboard lessons in our Music for Young Children (MYC) program. Our teachers offer a variety of teaching styles, which is celebrated at the studio, but at the core of our teaching philosophy is a passion for music and teaching and a desire to develop a love of music in all our students.
The position requires an individual to have a flexible schedule to accommodate our students’ and families’ needs. The position will require evening hours (Monday-Friday) and weekend hours (Saturdays and Sundays), depending on the demand and availability. This position will require the candidate to have access to his/her own vehicle or mode of transportation to attend the lessons at the studio located in Northwest Calgary. The candidate must also have at least one year of teaching experience, although training and development opportunities are available. We pride ourselves in fostering students to become teachers one day, therefore we offer opportunities for student-teachers to co-teach with senior teachers. Positive and collaborative personalities are most crucial in our teachers, as well as a passion to teach and a love of children. Depending on the demand, there will always be room to increase number of hours throughout the week. Pay is dependent on teaching experience and will increase each year. The contract term is for the coming music year starting in September 2026 to June 2027. The contract may be extended each year, if a teacher is qualified and is suitable with the studio environment.
Contract length: 10 months (but may be extended)
Part-time hours: Dependent on the demand, but could range from 3 to 20+ hours per week.
Job Types: Part-time, Fixed term contract.
Salary: Based on experience (Junior teachers with no teaching experience may begin at $20 per hour; Senior teachers range from $25 to $40 per hour).
Experience: At least 1 year of teaching.
Work remotely: If teachers are sick, they are required to teach at home via Zoom. If students are sick, they will join lessons online. A device that allows you to sign into Zoom to conduct online lessons is required.
