Write an essay (3000+ words) about an ethical problem that you could potentially face as someone in a position of authority.
Think of your future. What do you want to do? What kind of a person will you be?
At some point, you will be in a position of authority. This means that you will almost certainly confront ethical questions in your chosen profession. For example:
Can contracts made in conditions of extreme inequality be fair?
Should you defend criminals who you know are guilty?
Should you pay taxes or try to find tax loopholes to avoid it?
Should you boycott businesses that make goods in sweatshops?
Should you vote?
Should people be encouraged to break the law more often?
You may also wonder whether you are devoting your life to a worthwhile cause or whether you can use whatever power you have differently. For example, you may ask:
How much of your income should you give to charity?
Should you focus on your career or having a family?
Do you have a duty to financially support your family?
Should you choose a career that directly helps people or should you earn to give? Does it matter if you have a socially beneficial career?
Should you make material sacrifices to live in a sustainable way?
Should you try to convert people to your religion?
