Leaders Heights PTO Minutes

April 13, 2026

Attendance:   Kathy Bowser, Amanda Axe, Lindsey Strine, Michelle Young Caltagirone, Megan Anderson, Ashley Wilson, Joanne Bortner, Megan Clemens, Carly Paules, Chris Martin, Lauren Straub, Amanda Cario, and Cathryn Marsala.

1.  Welcome:  Amanda Axe

1.  Meeting called to order at 7:01 p.m.

2. Secretary’s Report:  Megan Anderson

1. Motion to approve Secretary’s report made. Approved by Lindsey Strine, seconded by Michelle Young Caltagirone.

3.   Treasurer’s Report:  Lindsey Strine

1. Account Balance: $27,821.37

2. Transactions:  HP ticket payments - $1,286.00, Book Fair (cash portion) - $974.10, Family Fun Night Donations - $515.00, Checks from PastaNito Family Night Out and Chipotle Family Night Out.

3. Expenses: Under hospitality we got retirement gifts for Mrs. Markey and Carla in the Cafeteria.  Under Family Fun Night - $700.00 for Atomic Bounce inflatables.  Under May Day expenses we put our deposit on 3 Monkeys for games - $719.25.  

4. Motion to approve Treasurer’s report made by Kathy Bowser and seconded by Megan Anderson.  

4. Principal/Staff Report:  Chris Martin/ Cathryn Marsala

1. Mr. Martin - Gaga pit has arrived.  Final paving is scheduled for next week and will set up Gaga pit after May Day.

2. Construction update - Furniture on the renovated side is 95% complete..  

3. May 8th is May Day and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at 5 pm followed by May Pole, then National Anthem.  Working with Perrydell and the fire police for parking at Perrydell.  

4. Cathryn Marsala (2nd Grade) - Excited for new additions to staff.  Thank you for the Parent Teacher Conference Meals and also books from the Book Fair.  

5. Discussion Items:   Amanda Axe

1. FNO at Noodles & Company on Monday, April 20th from 4 to 8 pm

2. PSSA Testing - April 21-23 (ELA) and 28th & 29th (math)

3. 3rd Grade Trip to DAIS on May 5th

4. Teacher Appreciation Week is May 4th through May 8th

5. Kindergarten Screening is May 6th

6. Art Show & STEAM Fair is Thursday, May 7th from 6 to 8 pm

7. May Day & Ribbon Cutting is Friday, May 8th from 5 to 8 pm

8. Science Explorers Assembly is May 14th

9. Third Grade Parent Program is May 22nd

10. Field Day? - Mr. Martin is discussing with Mr. Rabuck.  If we do it, it would be the week of May 19th.  Scaled back version.

6. Committee Reports:

1. Family Fun Night Recap (Amanda Axe) - Feedback - felt it went well.  We did have people RSVP who never showed which threw off our pizza count and had a lot of extra pizza.  

2. Book Fair Recap (Amanda Axe) - Don’t have official financial form yet but around $3,000 total sales.  No long lines.  Ewallets worked well.  The register for credit card payments was slow.  YT Secretary prints out Ewallet list every morning for their Book Fair.  

3. Art Show (Amanda Axe) - Sign Up Genius went up on Facebook but accidentally got deleted.  Will re-post to Facebook.

4. May Day (Kathy Bowser) - Executive board finalized the layout last week.  We have 4 Spry church volunteers and 4 soccer girls, field hockey girls also interested.  Utilize Spry church volunteers to monitor parking lot situation.  Soccer girls and field hockey girls will monitor hair tinsel, craft, and gym games.  NHS volunteers will do face painting.  PTO table for donations and QR code for Venmo, list of PTO events for next year, and map showing where activities are and how to get to them.  May Day Flyer will come home on April 20th.  

5. Plant Sale (Kathy Bowser) -  Flyer will come home with May Day Flyer on Monday, April 20th.

6. Silent Auction (Ashley Wilson) - Looking for volunteers to help for next year.  Welcome any additional donations.  Classroom baskets are being assembled.  

7. End of Year Class Parties (Michelle Young Caltagirone) - Luau theme.  PTO will cover pizza for lunch for all classes.  Sign Up Genius for snacks/drinks.  Bounce House/ Water Slide for 3rd Grade.  Would like to get pictures printed of each grade so the kids can make picture frames and take home with them.  

8. Hospitality/Staff Appreciation Week (Kathy Bowser)  -  Breakfast on Monday, May 4th, Tuesday, May 5th staff gift after the faculty meeting, and Lunch from The Bistro at County Meadows on May 6th.  

7. Misc. Discussion Items: 

                 a.  Voting for 2026/2027 school year.  

Nominations are:  Co-Presidents - Amanda Axe & Megan Clemens.  Vice President - Joanne Bortner.  Treasurer - Lindsey Strine.  Secretary - Megan Anderson.

Amanda Axe asked for a show of hands of everyone in favor of the nominations as is.  Everyone raised their hand, no one was opposed.
