The LEAD Peer Review of Teaching program provides law teachers employed at Australian law schools access to peer review by reviewers who have nominated to become LEAD Peer Reviewers and commit to undertaking at least two hours of professional development in peer review each year, including through participation in LEAD's Peer Review of Teaching Community of Practice.
LEAD Peer Review is
External to the reviewee’s own institution
Independent
Confidential, with report to be shared with reviewee only (confirmation of completion of the review is recorded with LEAD for record-keeping; no documents on the peer review are shared with LEAD)
Voluntary
Importantly, the program is not for institutional quality assurance processes. The format of the peer review report is suitable for use as evidence for a teaching award nomination, confirmation or promotion application and can be negotiated between the peer reviewee and peer reviewer. Law teachers are able to request peer review of any aspect of teaching, including:
• In-person (where distance permits) or online teaching
• Subject/course/unit review
• Assessment practices, including feedback
• Curriculum design
• Resource development
• Online learning design
