The Lyons Decatur Northeast School District has been working with a team of consultants to identify facility needs and create a plan to improve the PreK-12 facilities in Lyons. At the January meeting of the Board of Education, the Board voted on a resolution to move forward with a March 15th bond election to fund a proposed improvement project. Detailed information about this project can be found on this website, and we encourage you to submit your questions and comments through the “Ask A Question” tab.
The proposed project includes:
Classroom addition for preschool through 6th grade
New kitchen, cafeteria, and commons space
Media center expansion
New competition gym and locker rooms
Secure entrances & administrative offices for the elementary and high school areas of the building
HVAC, code compliance, and fire protection upgrades
Additional Information:
The cost of the proposed solution is $21.5 million, to be funded by the sale of bonds.
The March 15th election will be mail-in only.
Ballots will be mailed out to all registered voters in the district on February 22-23.
The deadline for returning your ballot is March 15 by 5:00 pm.
If you are not registered to vote, you may register by mail by February 25, or in person by March 4.
