Lédger® Live Recovery refers to the different ways users can restore access to a compatible Ledger wallet through the official Ledger ecosystem. Today, the application formerly known as Ledger Live is also presented by Ledger as Ledger Wallet. It works with compatible Ledger hardware devices and provides tools for managing accounts, installing supported applications, and accessing recovery-related features.
Wallet recovery is an important part of cryptocurrency self-custody. A Ledger device does not store cryptocurrency itself; instead, it protects the private keys used to control assets recorded on blockchain networks. The traditional recovery method uses the Secret Recovery Phrase created when a Ledger device is initialized. Never send your recovery phrase to anyone claiming to be Ledger support. A website, social-media account, or individual requesting your complete phrase is a major security warning.
Ledger also offers Ledger Recover, an optional subscription service designed to provide an encrypted backup for wallet access. Ledger explains that users can create a Ledger Recover login, complete identity verification, and connect a compatible Ledger device to create the backup.

Ledger also provides a physical Ledger Recovery Key for compatible touchscreen devices. Ledger describes it as an offline, PIN-protected backup solution. For supported Ledger Stax and Ledger Flex devices, the recovery process involves setting up the device, entering the Recovery Key PIN, and tapping the card against the compatible device.
This provides another recovery option for users who prefer a physical backup rather than an identity-based service.
Use only official Ledger applications and websites when performing recovery-related tasks. Do not trust unsolicited recovery links, advertisements, browser pop-ups, or messages promising to recover a wallet.
