Lédger® Live Recovery can refer to restoring access to a Ledger wallet or using Ledger Recover, an optional service designed to provide an encrypted backup for wallet access. Ledger explains that a traditional Secret Recovery Phrase can restore a wallet on a compatible device, while Ledger Recover provides an additional identity-based recovery option.
If you have your Secret Recovery Phrase, keep it securely offline and follow the recovery instructions provided by your Ledger device. Your recovery phrase is extremely sensitive because anyone who obtains it can potentially restore the associated wallet. Ledger specifically advises users never to enter the phrase into a computer, smartphone, website, or online form.
Ledger Recover is an optional service. According to Ledger, users create a Recover login, complete identity verification, and approve creation of an encrypted backup through their Ledger device. The backup is fragmented and secured through independent security infrastructure.
For users who lose access to their recovery phrase, Ledger describes a recovery process involving a compatible Ledger device, Ledger Wallet/Live, login credentials, and identity verification.
