Ledger previously offered Chrome apps, but officially discontinued them. The company replaced all Chrome-based applications with the unified Ledger Wallet™ desktop and mobile app, which provides a single, secure interface to manage Ledger devices.
Important: Any "Ledger Live Chrome Extension" you find in the Chrome Web Store is not official and could be a scam. The only official wallet software is the Ledger Wallet app.
Since there is no Chrome extension, follow these steps to get the official software:
Visit the official Ledger website at https://www.ledger.com/ledger-live
Select your operating system:
Windows (10 or later)
macOS (10.14 or later)
Linux (Ubuntu 20.04 or later)
iOS (iPhone/iPad via App Store)
Android (via Google Play Store)
Download and install the application directly from the official source.
Verify the download checksum if you are on Linux or want extra security.
Open the Ledger Wallet™ app on your computer or phone.
Connect your Ledger Nano S Plus, Nano X, Flex, or Stax device via USB-C or Bluetooth.
Enter your device PIN code on the Ledger screen.
The app will automatically detect your device and synchronize your accounts.
While there is no standalone Ledger Live Chrome extension, you can connect your Ledger hardware wallet to official third-party browser extensions for DeFi and Web3 access.
Step 1: Install the official MetaMask extension from the Chrome Web Store.
Step 2: Open MetaMask and click your account icon → "Connect Hardware Wallet."
Step 3: Select "Ledger" as your device type.
Step 4: Plug in your Ledger device, unlock it, and open the Ethereum (ETH) app on the device.
Step 5: Choose the account(s) you want to import into MetaMask and click "Unlock."
Key Points:
All transactions must be physically confirmed on your Ledger device screen.
Your private keys never leave the Ledger hardware.
This setup protects you from MetaMask seed phrase hacks.
Step 1: Install the Trust Wallet browser extension from the Chrome Web Store.
Step 2: Open the extension and select "Ledger" as your connection method.
Step 3: Connect your Ledger device via USB and unlock it.
Step 4: Approve the connection on both the Trust Wallet extension and your Ledger device.

Ledger does offer a dedicated browser extension, but only for Safari on macOS, not for Chrome.
Ensure your macOS is updated to a compatible version.
Install the Ledger Extension from the Mac App Store.
Open Safari → Preferences (or Settings) → Extensions.
Check the box next to "Ledger Extension" to activate it.
Use the extension to connect your Ledger device to compatible Web3 websites directly through Safari.
Never search for "Ledger Live Chrome Extension" — scammers create fake extensions to steal recovery phrases.
Only download software from https://www.ledger.com/ — this is the single official domain.
Always verify transactions on your Ledger device screen — never "blind sign" transactions you cannot read.
Keep your 24-word recovery phrase offline — Ledger will never ask for it via email, pop-ups, or browser extensions.
