A Lédger® Live QR Code can make it easier to share or scan cryptocurrency wallet information without manually typing a long blockchain address. Ledger explains that QR codes can encode wallet addresses and are commonly used in cryptocurrency payments. In Ledger's wallet software, QR functionality can be associated with receiving addresses, transactions, and certain device or account workflows.
When receiving supported cryptocurrency, Ledger's software can display a receiving address and, in applicable workflows, its corresponding QR code. The recipient can scan the code instead of manually entering the complete address. Ledger recommends checking the address shown on the hardware device before accepting a transaction because verifying the destination directly on the trusted device adds an important security check.
A QR code is essentially a machine-readable representation of information. In crypto transactions, it can represent a public wallet address. This is particularly useful because blockchain addresses can be lengthy and difficult to type accurately. Scanning a QR code can reduce manual typing and help make address sharing more convenient.
For example, when receiving crypto, a user can open the appropriate account in the Ledger application, select the receiving option, and display the available address. Depending on the supported workflow, the address may also be presented as a QR code. Before sharing or using the address, compare the information shown in the application with the address displayed on the connected Ledger hardware device when verification is available.
Ledger has historically used QR-based functionality to help connect or synchronize certain desktop and mobile experiences. Ledger explains that earlier account synchronization between devices could involve scanning a QR code, while its newer Ledger Sync feature is designed to reduce the need for manual QR-based synchronization.
Ledger's current product information also shows that the former Ledger Live application is evolving under the Ledger Wallet name. The official Ledger Wallet app is available across desktop and mobile platforms, with current downloads provided through Ledger's official resources.
Not every QR code is trustworthy. A malicious QR code can direct users to an unwanted website or provide an incorrect payment address. Always verify the destination before confirming a crypto transaction.
Most importantly, a QR code should never be used as a reason to disclose your Secret Recovery Phrase. Your recovery phrase is not a normal payment address and should never be entered into websites, forms, messages, or unofficial wallet applications. Ledger specifically warns about phishing campaigns that attempt to persuade users to enter their recovery phrase on fraudulent websites.
When receiving crypto, remember that sharing a public wallet address is fundamentally different from sharing private credentials. Keep your recovery phrase, PIN, and private keys confidential.

The Lédger® Live QR Code feature can simplify cryptocurrency address sharing and certain wallet workflows. However, convenience should never replace verification. Always obtain Ledger software from official sources, check transaction details on your Ledger device when prompted, and treat your Secret Recovery Phrase as confidential information.
Security Notice: Never scan an unfamiliar QR code for wallet recovery, never enter your Secret Recovery Phrase on a website, and never share your private keys or PIN with anyone claiming to provide Ledger support.
