Getting™ Started | Ledger® Live® — Official (EN-US)®
Managing digital assets begins with using trusted tools designed to help protect your crypto. Ledger® Live® is the official companion application for Ledger hardware wallets, allowing users to securely manage, buy, sell, swap, and stake supported cryptocurrencies from one convenient dashboard. Whether you're setting up a new device or restoring an existing wallet, Ledger Live offers an intuitive experience while keeping your private keys protected by your Ledger hardware wallet.
If you're new to Ledger products, the first step is visiting Ledger.com/start, where you'll find official setup instructions, software downloads, and device verification guidance. Following the official onboarding process helps ensure you're installing genuine software and configuring your wallet correctly from the beginning.
Install Ledger® Live®
Ledger Live is available for Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS. Download the application only from the official source to ensure authenticity and security. After installation, launch the application and choose whether you want to set up a new Ledger device or restore an existing wallet using your recovery phrase.
During setup, Ledger Live will guide you through firmware verification, device initialization, PIN creation, and application installation. If you need step-by-step instructions, visit Ledger.com/start for the latest official setup resources and compatibility information.
Connect Your Ledger Device
After opening Ledger Live, connect your Ledger hardware wallet using the supplied USB cable or Bluetooth (on supported devices). The application will automatically detect compatible devices and help verify their authenticity through Ledger's security checks.
Once connected, you'll create a secure PIN directly on your hardware wallet. The device will then generate a unique 24-word recovery phrase. Write this phrase down carefully and store it offline in a secure location. Never share your recovery phrase with anyone, and never enter it into websites, emails, or unofficial applications.
Add Crypto Accounts
Ledger Live makes it simple to manage multiple cryptocurrencies from a single interface. Install the appropriate blockchain applications onto your Ledger device, then add corresponding accounts within Ledger Live. After synchronization, you can send, receive, and monitor supported digital assets while approving every transaction directly on your hardware wallet.
Users can also access features such as portfolio tracking, staking for eligible assets, buying and selling through integrated service providers, and swapping supported cryptocurrencies without compromising hardware wallet security.
For the latest supported assets and onboarding documentation, refer to Ledger.com/start, where official guides are regularly updated.
Keep Your Wallet Secure
Maintaining good security habits is just as important as using a hardware wallet. Always verify transaction details on your Ledger device before confirming. Keep Ledger Live updated to benefit from the latest security improvements, feature enhancements, and device compatibility updates.
Avoid downloading Ledger Live from unofficial websites, and never disclose your recovery phrase to anyone claiming to represent customer support. Ledger representatives will never ask for your 24-word recovery phrase.
Regular firmware updates may become available for your device. Ledger Live will notify you when updates are ready and guide you through the installation process while preserving your existing accounts.

Ledger Live combines ease of use with the security of Ledger hardware wallets, providing a trusted environment for managing digital assets.
