As many of you know we are moving away from FirstClass email and will begin using Gmail on June 23, 2020. This will impact many of you in various ways, however, your email address will remain the same! We are working out specific details with regard to conferences, calendars, groups, etc. We will contact those with conferences that will be impacted to facilitate the change.
The first phase of this will be the shift from FirstClass Calendar to Google Calendar. When we migrate to the new system, calendar appointments will not be transferred to Google automatically. Therefore, any appointments you have added to the FirstClass calendar will need to be added manually to Google Calendar. The calendar support page will provide you with instructions for adding appointments.
After the migration, you will still have access to FirstClass calendar for a short time, but you will not be able to add new events to it. As a way of making the transition as smooth as possible I am asking that you begin using Google Calendar for new appointments immediately.
Beginning on June 23rd, we will migrate to Gmail as our primary email service. All FirstClass email messages smaller than 50 megabytes (50M) will be migrated to your new Gmail account. Folders inside your mailbox will be migrated, but folders nested inside other folders will appear as separate folders in your Gmail inbox. Migrating the email will take several days but you will still have access to view your FirstClass email for a while.
Once the migration begins, you will no longer be able to create or receive new messages in FirstClass. All new messages will be created and received in Gmail. You will be able to access your old messages in FirstClass for the time being.
To access your new email system, go to mail.google.com and login with your District email address and password. You will have full access to your email.
