The Lancashire and Cheshire Numismatic Society (LCNS), founded in 1864, is one of the oldest numismatic societies in the UK, and has been affiliated with the British Association of Numismatic Societies (BANS) since 1953. It is a non-profit organisation for the education of the public by fostering and promoting the study of any aspects of numismatics, and with reference to the area covered by the Palatine Counties of Lancashire and Cheshire
Activities
The Society aims to cover all branches of numismatics including ancient and modern coins, banknotes, tokens and medals. In addition to a varied programme of regular meetings and lectures, visits to local museums and other activities are also arranged. Membership is open to all who are interested in numismatics, and anyone with a serious interest in any branch of the subject is welcome.
