The Lower Columbia Literacy Council is dedicated to connecting educators to literacy ideas, innovations, and best practices through local, affordable, and current professional development and by advocating for equitable access to literacy education in our schools and our community.

The Washington Organization for Reading Development (WORD) is a state affiliate of the International Literacy Association (ILA) formed in 1954 under the direction of Florence Sperling. In 1960 WORD was incorporated and continues to support educators throughout Washington and is dedicated to supporting all persons who are concerned with literacy and encourages groups and individuals at all levels to implement good reading practices.
