Junior Race Team

Welcome to the space where you will find all of your Junior Race Team info! LBSC's Optimist Race Team competes in off-lake regattas throughout the summer, both on Lake Ontario (in Toronto), and in cottage country. Below, you will find registration information for all regattas, as well as schedules, accommodation info, and volunteer details when they become available.

Please note that some logistical information may only be visible to those whose families are registered for a specific regatta, access may be requested by pressing the link and the "request access" button, or by emailing racing@lbsc.ca directly, with the name of the regatta.

The Optimist Race Team/Learn to Race is designed for sailors 15 and under who have achieved at least their CanSail 1. They sail Optimists; single-handed boats designed to be skippered by younger athletes, and are able to achieve their CanSail 2-6 levels through this program.

Placement on the Opti Race Team versus the Learn to Race branch is contingent on program capacity, skill level of groups, and boat availability. Generally, the Optimist Race Team sailors are able to attend off-lake events, whereas the Learn to Race sailors stay on-lake, and become accustomed to sailing independently, with more flexible opportunities to switch between the optimist program and their 'regular' classes.
