Session #1: "Behavioral Principles"

We look forward to you participating in Session #1 of the Group Parent Training and Counseling for Long Beach School District. During this session, we will discuss overall behavioral principles and how they may relate to behavior management across all settings. Within this session we will also analyze common behavioral challenges that many parents face in the home. We'll also explore some commonly used concepts and strategies that behaviorists often recommend during the initial stages of the intervention process. The overall goal of this session will be to empower parents and caregivers with the tools that they need in order to feel confident with their own individualized approach towards the overall behavior intervention process.

Session #2: "Prevention Strategies"

Session #2 of the Group Parent Training and Counseling for Long Beach School District. During this session, we will discuss prevention and how parents can be proactive in their planning processes. Within this session we will also analyze the different categories of behavioral prevention. We will also identify different ways that parents may already be preventing inappropriate behaviors at home. By the end of this session, parents and caregivers should have a better understanding on how to view the antecedents that are tied to targeted behaviors. Additionally, this Parent Training session should provide parents and caregivers with "a toolbelt" of strategies to explore during their proactive planning processes.

Session #3: "Daily Schedules"

Session #3 of the Group Parent Training and Counseling for Long Beach School District! During this session, we will focus on how the use of schedule systems can positively impact your child's behavior both at home and in the community. We'll explore different examples of how to arrange and design schedule systems so that they can work as both a proactive and reactive support. Additionally, we'll talk about how reinforcement can be embedded within a schedule system as an alternative to some of the other reinforcement approaches that we've discussed thus far. The overall goal of this session will be to help parents and caregivers understand how useful schedule systems can be, and how to design these schedules so that they are applicable for their individualized circumstances.
