About Us

Lazy D C Bar Ranch was founded in 2017 by Megan & Jay Callahan. They moved  back to the Mission Valley to operate on the Callahan Family Farm. This will be the third  generation on this piece of land. Originally the land was used By Dan Callahan for growing potatoes, grain,  & running cattle with the help of  his children. His son Tim eventually took over the daily operations for the past 19 years and is now helping Megan & Jay oversee the responsibilities.

Megan met Jay while in college for Equine Riding, Training & Farm & Ranch management in Powell Wyoming. Megan is originally from Northern Minnesota where she spent her entire childhood around horses & competing at a young age. Megan has studied under multiple successful trainers in many different industries from Western pleasure, Jumping, Barrel Racing, Cutting, Ranch horses, Roping and even guiding guests on horseback into Yellowstone National Park. Megan is always searching to improve her knowledge and believes you can never know "enough" about horses. She absolutely loves helping horse & riders communicate better to improve their relationships with each other.

Jay grew up a 3rd generation farmer on the Callahan family farm, his wife introduced him to horses. Jay enjoys spending time with the horses but especially the mules. He has a big appreciation for their intelligence.

We have two Bio children Kenna & Flint, and we also are foster parents!
