Privacy Policy for LawSphere
Effective Date: March 12, 2026
1. Introduction
Welcome to LawSphere ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the LawSphere mobile application (the "App").
By accessing or using the App, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with the terms of this Privacy Policy, please do not use the application.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information to provide better services to our users. The types of information we collect include:
Personal Information: When you register for an account (either via Email or Google Sign-In), we collect your Name, Email Address, and your selected user role ("Citizen" or "Lawyer").
User-Generated Content: We store the chat queries you send to the AI, private messages exchanged between Citizens and Lawyers, case management notes (for Lawyer accounts), and generated legal drafts.
Voice and Audio Data: If you use the Voice-to-Text feature, the App records your voice temporarily to convert it to text. This is processed via your device’s native Google Speech Recognition service. We do not store audio recordings on our servers.
Camera and Image Data: If you use the "Legal Lens" (OCR Scanner) feature, the App requires access to your device's camera. Images are processed locally on your device using Google ML Kit to extract text. We do not upload or store your photos on our servers.
Location Data: To use the "Nearby Police Stations and Courts" feature, the App may request access to your device's location (Coarse/Fine). This data is used strictly locally via Google Maps Intents to provide nearby results. We do not track or store your location history.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information for the following purposes:
To provide, operate, and maintain the App's features (including AI legal assistance).
To manage your account and user role (Citizen/Lawyer).
To facilitate private, encrypted communication between users and legal professionals.
To generate context-aware legal responses using Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) technology.
To allow you to manage and delete your chat history.
4. Third-Party Services & Data Sharing
LawSphere utilizes advanced third-party infrastructure to function. We do not sell your personal data. However, data is securely processed by the following services:
Google Firebase & Firestore: Used for user authentication, role management, and securely storing chat histories and private messages.
Groq API (Llama 3): Used for processing natural language queries. Your text queries are sent to Groq for AI inference. Please note: We advise against sharing highly sensitive Personally Identifiable Information (PII) or confidential case details in the general AI chat.
Pinecone Vector Database: Used to securely store and retrieve mathematical representations (embeddings) of public Indian Legal Acts (BNS, BNSS, BSA, etc.).
Google Maps & ML Kit: Used locally on your device for location mapping and Optical Character Recognition (OCR).
These third-party providers have their own Privacy Policies addressing how they use such information.
5. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures, including Firebase Authentication and Firestore Security Rules, to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, alteration, or disclosure. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Your Data Rights and Controls
You have full control over your data within the App:
Delete Chat History: You can permanently delete your AI chat history at any time using the "Trash" icon within the Chat Screen.
Delete Specific Messages: In private consultations, you can long-press to "Delete for Me" or "Delete for Everyone."
Account Deletion: You may request the complete deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us directly at the email provided below.
7. Children's Privacy
LawSphere is not intended for use by children under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 18. If we discover that a child under 18 has provided us with personal information, we will delete it immediately.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this policy and, where appropriate, providing an in-app notification.
