Lawrence McCrobie is an experienced music educator, scholar, and arts advocate serving as a high school band director in Jefferson County, Kentucky. A graduate of Central Hardin High School [Cecilia, KY], the University of Louisvillem Campbellsville University, Franciscan University of Stubenville, University of the Cumberlands, Eastern Kentucky University and the Pontifical Gregorian in Rome, IT, he holds a doctorate in music education and has dedicated his career to building strong instrumental music programs grounded in musical excellence, student leadership, and community engagement. His own musical journey began as a saxophonist in the Hardin County school system, shaping a lifelong commitment to band culture and music advocacy.

In addition to his work at the secondary level, McCrobie has contributed to music education at the collegiate level, where he has taught and mentored future educators while engaging in broader conversations about pedagogy, ensemble culture, and the sociology of music. His professional practice reflects a balance of thoughtful planning and adaptive instruction, emphasizing both artistic rigor and the practical realities of directing comprehensive music programs.

McCrobie remains actively involved in the national marching arts and educational community. He serves as a board member for Music City Youth in the Arts, the nonprofit organization that sponsors Music City Drum and Bugle Corps, and is an active writer for Drum Corps World, contributing commentary and analysis on the evolving landscape of drum corps and marching music. His broader leadership experience includes service as a member of the Board of Trustees for The Catholic University of America and as a member of the Kentucky State Board of Education. In recognition of his service and contributions to the Commonwealth, he holds the rank of Kentucky Colonel.

McCrobie has also worked as a Music Director and Pastoral Associate for the Archdiocese of Louisville, where he developed music programs and recruited volunteers. He has a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Religious Studies, as well as a Master of Music in Orchestral studies. McCrobie has received several awards for his work in education, including National Catechist Educator of the Year and various Teacher of the Month awards. He is fluent in Latin and has intermediate proficiency in Italian. McCrobie has also worked as a Business Manager for musical organizations, where he focused on financial stability and organizational capacity building
