Guinness record attempt

I am going to try something totally crazy and if you know me, then you are probably shaking your head and saying, "what? again?"

I have decided to break a Guinness world record set by a gentlemen in the UK. This is the worlds fastest land speed record of a wheelbarrow. I love making things run on batteries as I think gas / petroleum is on its way out and is not good for our children and grandchildren anyway.

So, the first thing I did was to buy an old wheelbarrow and strip it down to just the barrow and the front wheel assembly. Then I started the hard work. I have been using aluminum as much as possible, because it is lighter.

This was my first layout. needed room for the batteries and the Leeson motor, which is the power plant for this attempt.

After a while, I realized this layout wouldn't work, so, had to change it a bit.

I bought some trailer tires and rims from local hardware store, and the above layout worked out pretty good so far. So, I just kept building on that.

I had to sit on it to make sure the handlebars were the right size and distance.

Here are a couple pictures of it so far. I have already driven it some, but it doesn't have quite as much power as it needs to. This is using the Leeson 1 hp motor I have pictured below. I really need at least the 2HP. but that is over $900. Guess I need to start saving more money.

Adding the Guinness criteria for the Wheelbarrow attempt below, it is really interesting.
