About Your Instructor

Introduction

I am Professor Mary Lia Reiter. I've been a full-time faculty member at CSCC for 19 years. I am the distance learning/technology lead instructor for the Social Sciences Department at CSCC. Prior to starting my teaching career, I worked for the Columbus City Prosecutor's office where I supervised and trained criminal mediators, assisted members of the public with filing criminal complaints, mediated criminal disputes, and worked as a liaison between prosecutors and intake officers.

When I was a graduate student, I was a member of the Ohio State Synchronized Skating Team and participated in the first ever collegiate level synchronized skating competition held in the United States. I enjoy listening to music, especially darkwave, black metal, and goth music. I also like classical period music and play the flute, piccolo, clarinet, and saxophone. My favorite TV shows are currently The Expanse and Doctor Who, and my favorite movie, I think, is probably The Red Violin. I also have two small dogs, Hannah the Chihuahua and Lola the Pomapoo, that love bacon and belly scratches.
