The first Colombian bakery in the United States was founded by my father Antonio Martinez, my brother Francisco Martinez and his partner Luis Losada, founded November 1, 1968.

My father told my brother Francisco that they should open a bakery because in Colombia they also had a bakery. He then spoke to his friend Luis Losada- that they had worked together in Manhattan in a bakery- and he said, yes. They joined together and put the bakery in the same place it is today, 54 years ago at 39-44 Queens Blvd, Sunnyside.

All my brothers have worked in the bakery and of all the ones who have overseen the bakery the longest are my wife and me.

There have been many beautiful years and although there have also been hard times, we are still here and very grateful for the bakery, for the customers who have been faithful to the bakery for years, and for all the workers who have spent so many years. Our goal is to continue for many more years to come”.
