Hello! Welcome to my e-portfolio. This e-portfolio was developed over the time-span of a few weeks. It was the final project that I completed as a requirement of the Master in Library and Information Science (MLIS) program at San José State University (SJSU). Thus, it is a culmination of not only all of the work that I have produced during my time in the MLIS program, but it is also a culmination of all of the knowledge that I have gained. You can access different sections of the e-portfolio by clicking on the navigation links in the upper-right corner of this page.
The entire e-portfolio consists of:
1) An introduction page, which describes the e-portfolio’s organization.
2) Fifteen core competency essays, starting from competency A and ending with competency O. The core competencies were essential skills that we as MLIS students needed to have upon the completion of the program at SJSU. Each core competency essay contains an introduction/explication portion where I explain what the competency means; and an evidence section where I present my past assignments/documented experiences to demonstrate that I have mastered the competency.
3) A conclusion page, where I reflect upon my time in the MLIS program and discuss my future professional plans.
4) And an affirmation statement, in which I affirm that all the work I have produced for this e-portfolio is mine. I also affirm that I will protect privacy of all individuals or institutions mentioned in the e-portfolio.
While this e-portfolio project has been a very challenging experience for me, I am proud of the final result. Producing this e-portfolio made me realize that my knowledge of the library and information science field is more extensive than I initially thought. It has also made me realize how skilled librarians are, and how important they are to this constantly developing information environment in which we live. I am happy to be able to participate in this exciting field, and I hope that you enjoy looking through my e-portfolio project.
*Note: Throughout this e-portfolio, I often use the terms "librarians" and "information professionals" interchangeably. Both of these terms are used to refer to people who work in the Library and Information Science (LIS) field.
I have also removed or omitted certain evidence pieces from this site in order to protect the privacy of individuals, the privacy of certain institutions, or my own privacy (i.e. I have removed anything pertaining to my personal information).
