Lauren Czerniak is a Senior Advanced Analytics Analyst on the Routing and Inventory Optimization - KeepStock team at Grainger. In her role, she leads projects (model design, development, and implementation) that utilize operations research to optimize decision-making.
Lauren received her Ph.D. in Industrial and Operations Engineering from the University of Michigan where she was co-advised by Mark S. Daskin and Mariel S. Lavieri. Her Ph.D. research focused on developing and applying stochastic models to address current challenges in healthcare with applications in pharmaceutical drugs and concussion management. She received the Rackham Merit Fellowship and National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship.
Women and other underrepresented groups in STEM is an initiative that she is very passionate about. During her academic career, she supervised six undergraduate researchers (five from underrepresented backgrounds), mentored four Ph.D. students (four from underrepresented backgrounds), and she held officer and leadership positions in multiple organizations (e.g., Society of Women Engineers at the University of Pittsburgh, Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences [INFORMS] at the University of Michigan). During her professional career, she plans to continue to serve as a role model to women and other underrepresented groups intrigued by STEM.
