This is a series I started many years into burnout when I was trying to find my way with shooting again. Since one aspect contributing to burnout was organizing full teams and complex equipment setups, I took an easier route with these. Each of these shots is taken on an adventure with a close friend (or sister), camera only, in natural light. 

California has a lot to offer in terms of backdrops, and I always felt a little striken that my original photo era wasn't while I was here. So, it has been nice to tap into that in this series, all taken within arm's length of the Bay Area.

Each of these images took months to finalize. Partly because of burnout, partly because of time constraints, partly because of perfectionism, so I challenged myself to let these photos sit without rushing them. When I started overthinking too much, I left them for a while. When I felt stuck, I left them for a while. I also challenged myself to call them complete when I reached a point of ultra-fine hairsplitting. It has been a mantra for me over the last few years that what I have right now is good enough. This is good enough.
